The Finals has been one of the best multiplayer games of 2024. It admittedly suffered a bit of a dip in quality with Season 3, but Embark’s fourth chapter has been an absolute blast and gone by in the blink of an eye. There are only a few weeks of S4 remaining, and here you will find The Finals Season 5 release date, new weapon, speculation about the new map, and everything we know so far.

While S4 has been amazing thanks to all of the new content and celebration of Halloween, we only have to wait a few weeks for The Finals Season 5 release date to arrive. As per usual, there will be new weapons and gadgets, along with a unique map and theme.

The Finals Season 5 release date

The release date for The Finals Season 5 is December 12th. This comes courtesy of the in-game countdown for the deadline of the S4 battle pass.

Surprisingly, S5 was revealed with a brief teaser at the Golden Joystick Awards. There it was announced that, in addition to a new chapter, December 12th would also see the arrival of The Finals on PS4 consoles.

While we have to wait a few weeks for the new chapter to come out, Embark will reveal more details about Season 5 on December 5th.

The Finals Season 5 new weapons

Similar to all other episodes, The Finals Season 5 will introduce new weapons and gadgets for each of the classes: Light, Medium, and Heavy.

Embark hasn’t officially announced any of the new guns joining the game, but their S5 teaser shows a new weapon presumably for the Medium class. The key art teaser shared on X shows a shotgun that, upon closer inspection, has three barrels instead of the regular two.

The fact it has three barrels is all we know about the shotgun as of writing. Again, it’s presumably for the Medium class, and nothing has been teased for either Light or Heavy as of yet.

New map

Each chapter of Embark’s multiplayer shooter has introduced a new map, and Season 5 will be no exception. We don’t know anything about the new map yet, but we can speculate that it might be Tenochtitlan.

The reason we suspect this is because the key art teaser suggests S5 will have an Aztec theme. This hasn’t been explicitly confirmed by Embark, but it’s the impression left by the newly confirmed skin.

It would be a great theme to explore, and it wouldn’t be too unusual for The Finals as the multiplayer game has danced back-and-forth between sci-fi and reality with maps such as the SYS$HORIZON in Season 2 and Kyoto, Japan, in Season 3.

Everything else we know about Season 5

There isn’t much else we know about The Finals Season 5 as a lot more details will be revealed on December 5th.

However, before the launch of S4, Embark Rob shared a new feature that will hopefully arrive in S5. This new feature is a jukebox that will let players listen in-game to soundtracks of past seasons. The soundtracks from Embark are fantastic, so this would be a great feature if successfully implemented.

Aside from this new feature, Embark previously asked fans for “help” with the Season 5 battle pass. This help involved players voting for weapon skins they most desire for the Light, Medium, and Heavy arsenal.
